0 Public facilities in Gianyar in poor condition

Despite its renowned reputation as Bali’s most cultured regency, public facilities in most tourist and cultural destinations in Gianyar are in a dilapidated condition. Poor parking lots, smelly and dirty public toilets and crowded shops are common sights in many of the regency’s top tourist destinations, including Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave), Gunung Kawi archaelogical site and Tirta Empul springs. AA Ari Brahmanta, head of Gianyar tourism office, explained that the regional administration planned to set aside Rp 2 billion (US$205,000) for the renovation of these public facilities. The renovation projects are slated to start in early 2013 under the auspices of Gianyar Public Works Agency.
