0 Buleleng floods cause Rp 2b losses and counting

The floods occurring in Buleleng regency recently have caused Rp 2 billion (US$205,800) in financial loss, according to Buleleng Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD). “The disaster also took the lives of two residents in Gitgit village and caused financial losses of Rp 2 billion,” BPBD head, Putu Dana, was quoted as saying by Antara news agency on Monday. He estimated that the financial losses from the natural disasters in the region would continue to rise as the agency was still gathering data on the damage. Three villages in Tejakula district were destroyed in a flood. Landslides occurred in several villages, including Subuk, Gesing, Munduk, Lemukih and Gitgit, which cut off road access from Denpasar to Singaraja via Bedugul.
