0 Bali’s statue exports up by 12.87 percent

The export value of statues and various wooden handicrafts last year reached US$71.4 million, an increase of 12.87 percent from $63.34 million in 2011. “The volume of goods shipped abroad reached 53.75 million pieces, a rise of 33.32 percent from 40.32 million in the previous year,” Ketut Teneng, the provincial administration’s spokesman, said Sunday, as quoted by Antara news agency. He said the statues, in a variety of designs, were the biggest contributor to export value, which also included 17 types of wooden handicrafts produced by home industries. As much as 54.91 percent of the statues and handicrafts was exported to the 10 biggest markets, while the remaining 45.09 percent was sent to a number of other importing countries.
