Governor Made Mangku Pastika confirmed the dates for local holidays for the 2013 period for Bali’s schools and government offices to allow Balinese Hindus to hold religious rituals and celebrations. The governor has set 21 days of holidays for locals, in addition to the 14 national holidays. On Jan. 10-11, the Balinese people will observe Siwatri, followed by Saraswati Day on Jan. 12. On Jan. 16, the Balinese will also celebrate Pagarwesi. Balinese holidays include Galungan and Kuningan holidays, as well as Nyepi, the day of silence, which this year falls on March 12.
