0 Bodies of drowned students found

The bodies of two students reported drowned on Saturday in Lake Beratan in Bedugul, Tabanan regency, were found on Sunday. The two victims, Slamet, 17, and Sri Utami, 17 — students of a state senior high school in Tuban, East Java, came to Bali with their friends and teachers on vacation. They tumbled into the lake and drowned after a wooden bridge, where the group was standing for a photo session, collapsed.

The other 10 students and teachers were safe, but they were not aware at that time that two people in the group were missing, Tabanan police chief Adj. Sr. Comr Dekananto Eko Purwono said. Nasrudin, one of the teachers said he asked the students to get on the bus and left for Tabanan soon after the incident. It was on the bus that he became aware that two of the students were missing and immediately reported the incident to the police. He said they had departed from Tuban on Thursday for a two-day outing to Bali. In Bali, they went to Bedugul and stopped at the lake purely to take a photograph. Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
