A number of streets in the Kuta and Legian areas will be closed to vehicles, with traffic rerouted to make way for crowds of people expected to be celebrating New Year’s Eve parties in these popular tourist destinations. Some streets will be closed on Dec. 31 from 2 p.m. Among the streets affected are Jl. Dewi Sartika heading to Kuta Beach.
Traffic from Seminyak to Legian will be rerouted to Jl. Singosari/Jl. Ciung Wanara — Bemo Corner intersection. Meanwhile, traffic heading from Jl. Iman Bonjol or Jl. Bypass Ngurah Rai to Kuta and Nusa Dua will be rerouted. Starting from 4 p.m. on Dec. 31, all streets heading to Kuta, Legian and Nusa Dua will be closed until the end of the New Year celebrations on Jan. 1. “The Bali police would like to inform local residents, and visitors as well, to be on the alert during the New Year events,” stated Sr. Com Hariadi, Bali Police spokesperson.
