Former Jakarta governor Gen. (ret.) Sutiyoso has reported that he lost Roger Debuis and BMW watches to a conman, police have said. "We haven't arrested the perpetrator," Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said on Saturday as quoted by kompas.com. Sutiyoso filed the report on Thursday, presenting Air Vice Marshal (ret.) Purnomo Basuki and Sgt. Maj. Jumin as witnesses.
Rikwanto said that Sutiyoso said he received a call from a man named Ahaw last month. Ahaw said he obtained Sutiyoso's private number from the current Air Force chief, Air Chief Marshal Ida Bagus Putu Dunia, offering to service the general's luxury watches, as he claimed to have fixed the watches of several high-ranking officials. A few days later, Ahaw came to Sutiyoso's home in Jatisampurna in Bekasi, east of Jakarta. Sutiyoso gave Ahaw his Roger Debuis and BMW watches for maintenance. However, Ahaw returned bogus watches that looked similar to Sutiyoso. The case remains under investigation.
