0 Despite criticism, 8 new Supreme Court justices elected

House of Representatives Commission III on law and human rights has voted for eight out of 24 Supreme Court justice candidates despite complaints over their poor quality. Before voting late Wednesday afternoon, several members of Commission III expressed disappointment in the Judicial Commission (KY) for forwarding the names of 24 “incredible” candidates to be screened by the commission starting last week.

However, the commission still elected eight justices, namely Hamdi of the Yogyakarta High Court, Muhammad Syarifuddin of the Supreme Court monitoring division, I Gusti Agung Sumanatha of the Supreme Court education and training division, Irfan Fachruddin of the Jakarta State Administrative Court, Margono of the Makassar High Court, Burhan Dahlan of the Military Court, Desnayeti of the Padang High Court and Yakup Ginting of Banjarmasin High Court.
