A 60-meter long and 3-meter high wall along Jl. Nangka, Gang Kenari 1 in Umasari hamlet, Dangin Puri Kaja in North Denpasar, collapsed on Wednesday injuring two passersby and damaging eight motorbikes parked alongside the wall. Komang Suyasa, 28, broke his leg, while Luh Anik, 30, injured her face, jaw and waist.
Both of them received medical treatment at Bhakti Rahayu hospital, as reported by local media Bali Post on Wednesday. The wall, which has stood for many years, is the property of resident Pande Yoga. The son of Pande Yoga, Agus Yudi, promised to immediately repair the broken wall. The nearby residents said that due to its old age, the wall had been unable to withstand the strong winds and heavy rains that had been occurring this rainy season. “Two days ago we noticed the wall was slanting,” said a resident, adding that holes and cracks could also be seen on the wall.
